Dr. Richard Ginsburg, P.H.D – Editorial Advisor – Co-director of the MGH PACES Institute of Sport Psychology and an assistant professor of psychology (part-time) at the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ginsburg also serves as a staff psychologist in the Newton Wellesley Hospital child and adolescent psychiatry department. As a father, clinical psychologist and a sport psychology consultant, he is passionate about promoting the positive benefits of sport for kids, parents, coaches and athletes alike. Read more about Dr. Richard Ginsburg…

Teri Ginsburg – Cofounder and Editor – A former competitive gymnast and multi-sport athlete, Teri is passionate about performance, communicating ideas, building community and helping kids find confidence, competence and expression through sports. Prior to co-founding SportsWise, Teri developed and managed PR and philanthropic programs at Fidelity Investments. She is the mother of two active children, a leader in their school community and a volunteer on and off the field.

charlie-ohearn-photoCharlie O’ Hearn – Charlie O’Hearn is President and CEO of Summit Educational Group in Wellesley, MA.  While an undergraduate at Yale University, Charlie provided personalized, in-home tutoring services to students in the New Haven area.  Seeing a need for one-on-one, in-home tutoring and test preparation, he launched the company in 1988.  Charlie has written a number of highly regarded test preparation books, which are used by tutoring companies and schools around the country.  He is an expert in the field of tutoring and test preparation and is a frequent speaker and panelist at education conferences, forums, and schools around the country.

Richard Halgin – Richard P Halgin is a Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he has taught more than 20, 000 undergraduates and has mentored 30 doctoral students.  He has published multiple editions of three psychology textbooks as well as dozens of articles in the field of professional psychology.  He maintains an independent clinical practice in Amherst, Massachusetts where he consults with a wide range of clients including varsity and professional athletes.  At UMass he is the faculty mentor and consulting psychologist for the UMass Minutemen Hockey Team.

 

Holly Westling – Counsels clients in sports nutrition, weight loss/gain, and how to create life-long health habits to optimize well-being through one-on-one counseling, group sessions, and cooking demonstrations. Holly has a BA from the University of Virginia and a BSN from Johns Hopkins University. While practicing nursing in both an acute care setting and in oncology, she developed a passion for nutrition and a desire to work in preventative health care. She has a Masters in Human Nutrition, national certification as a Certified Nutrition Specialist, and certification as a Lifestyle Coach. Read more about Holly Westling…

 

Dr. Stephen Durant – Co-founder and co-director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Sports Psychology Program. A faculty member of the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry, he is a clinical psychologist with a broad range of interests including treatment of adolescent and college age athletes. He currently is a member of the MGH medical team that serves the Boston Red Sox & the Boston Bruins. Dr. Durant is also co-author of “Whose Game Is It, Anyway? amybaltzellDr. Amy Baltzell – Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Sport Psychology Specialization (of Counseling) at Boston University. Amy received her bachelors from Wesleyan University (CT) and earned a masters and doctorate from Boston University. She is a former US National (1989, 1990) and Olympic (1992) Rowing Team member, member of the All women’s America’s cup Sailing Team (1995), and Head Varsity lightweight rowing coach (1998-1999) at Harvard University. Dr. Francis Wang – Harvard Athletics Team Physician since 2000, and Head Team Physician since 2010, with special clinical and research interests in concussion, infectious diseases of athletes, and sports cardiology.
